'A Passion for Flowers'
Night
blooming
cereus, a cactus flower, said by some to be the most beautiful flower
in the world
We get to show off some of
photographs of our flowers
to benefit Tallahassee Museum,
Gretchen Everhart School

We were surprised and gratified when
the Tallahassee Museum asked us to present our photography after
viewing our work in the gallery
pages on the web.
Proceeds of the exhibit will go to benefit the museum and to help the
students and dedicated faculty at Gretchen Everhart School in
Tallahassee, a school for exceptional children who are trained to meet
the many challenges life has presented them.
The show, set up beautifully by staff of the museum, is being held in
the Fleischmann Natural Science Building (bird
room) of the Museum, and will be held from September to January.
Much thanks to curator Linda Deaton for inviting us, and to
assistant curator Gwendolyn Waldorf and Sarah Wagoner for excellent
placement and setting.
The photographs, framed, are sizes 11x14, 16x20 and 18x24. Most will
be available for purchase unframed with a black mat which is
backed by acid-free foam board. All photos will be signed on the
matting or a typed and signed information will be provided.
The photographs are printed with 200 year Hewlett Packard Vivera inks
on high quality papers.
Some of these creations are avant garde or post-modern
impressions of what flowers might look like if the colors and lines
were dreamt up again by nature in its process of natural selection and
survival.

The museum is the home for many nature displays, aquariums and
terrariums with
fish and snakes.
The museum presents a habitat for Florida's animals
including bears and panthers and a walking path along the nearby
lake. Frontier Florida is represented here with an original store from
the region, an old-time pioneer farm, and the Murat
house, once home to George Washington's great grandniece Catherine
Murat and her husband, Prince Achille Murat, the nephew of
Napoleon. There is an 1890s school and a 1937 church.
A formal opening is planned, but pictures are on view for all
visitors.
For museum visitors, there are many activities, plenty
of picnic tables and a nature shop. Plan to spend a day, and bring a
lunch.
The museum website is located at http://tallahasseemuseum.org/
and admission is $9 for adults, $8.50 for seniors, $8.50 for
college students, $6 for children 4-15, and children 3 and under are
admitted free. Members of the museum are admitted free. Family
membership is $60, individual is $50.
You may order and pick up at the museum or I will mail
